Understanding Tailore account types

Tailore has one kind of account, and it can be used as a client, a designer, or both. This article explains what each way of using it unlocks and how to move between them.

One account, used two ways

There is no separate designer signup on Tailore. Every account starts the same way, and what turns on the designer tools is creating a Studio - finishing the designer onboarding wizard. Until then, your account works as a client account; afterward, it works as both.

That also means becoming a designer costs you nothing on the client side. A designer keeps full client capability: you can still browse designers and the Shop, send inquiries and commission work from other studios with the same account.

What each way of using Tailore unlocks

How a Tailore account can be used
Account useWhat you can do
ClientBrowse designers and listings, send inquiries, review proposals, follow projects and make payments.
DesignerRun a Studio: publish listings, receive inquiries, manage client projects and receive payouts.
BothEverything above from one account - commission work as a client while operating your own Studio.

How the client side and the Studio fit together

There is no mode switch to flip and no role stored on your account. The public side of Tailore - browsing, search, your inquiries and projects as a client - is always available, and your Studio lives in its own dashboard. Moving between the two is simply navigation: open your Studio dashboard to work as a designer, and go back to the rest of the site to act as a client.

If you have not created a Studio yet, Getting started as a designer walks through the whole path from account creation to your first look at the dashboard.
