Your first steps after onboarding
Your new Studio dashboard opens on a "Getting started" checklist. This article walks through each item, explains what payment setup unlocks, and shows what it takes to appear in public discovery.
The "Getting started" checklist
The Overview page of your Studio shows a "Getting started" checklist. You do not have to complete it in order, though payment setup gates a few of the others.
Complete payment setup
"Set up payments so clients can pay you on Tailore. Payment acceptance, payouts and verification are all part of this one step." The walkthrough is in Connecting your payout account.
Publish your first listing
"Become discoverable and give clients a specific design to inquire about." The card's Create listing button opens the listing form - see Creating and publishing a listing.
Bring an existing client to Tailore
"Create a private project for someone you already work with - no listing needed." Select Create a project to start one.
Portfolio photos
"At least 3 images. Most studios finish this during onboarding." Photos count toward the public-discovery requirements below.
Preview your public profile
"See your studio the way clients do."
Set your availability
"Recommended before your first project, so clients can book consultations and fittings." Select Open calendar to set it.
What payment setup unlocks
Payment setup is the checklist item the others wait on: publishing a listing, making your Studio public and taking on new projects all require it. The listing form says it plainly: "Set up payouts before publishing - clients pay deposits through your connected payout account. You can keep this as a draft until then."
The visibility control carries the same rule: "Finish setting up payouts before making your studio public - a listed studio needs to be able to take payments." Until then you can still edit your profile, upload photos and save listing drafts.
Going public and appearing in discovery
Visibility lives in the Store editor's Studio visibility section. Public means "Your studio appears in search, Shop, and designer discovery." Direct link only means "Your studio stays out of search and discovery. Anyone with your studio link can still view it." New Studios start as Direct link only.
To actually appear in search, Shop and designer discovery, all four must be true:
- Payment setup is complete, so your Studio can take payments
- Your profile has at least 3 portfolio photos
- You have at least 1 published listing
- Studio visibility is set to Public
FAQs
No. Payment setup gates publishing, going public and new projects, but the rest - photos, previewing your profile, availability - can be done anytime and in any order.
Only by direct link. As long as visibility is "Direct link only", your Studio stays out of search and discovery, but anyone you send the link to can view it.
No. Private projects never require a listing - use Create a project and invite your client. See Bringing an existing client to Tailore.
